Service Selection Board, Kapurthala
Punjab has become the fourth state in the country to have a centre to select future officers for the armed forces with the commencement of Selection Centre (North) at Kapurthala. The centre would provisionally function for around three years from Kapurthala Military station and would be shifted to the state of art 200-acre campus at Ropar (near Chandigarh).
The selection process of first batch of 80 aspirants to join the Armed Forces has commenced on 01 Apr 16. It was inaugurated by Lt Gen KJ Singh, Army Commander Western Command in the presence of Military and Civil dignitaries.
Candidates from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir will generally be called here for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews. These states, according to last year’s figure contributed over 24 per cent of the total cadets who became Commissioned Officers.
